Duties and Responsibilities: Police, fire, and ambulance dispatchers, also called 9-1-1 operators or public safety telecommunications, answer emergency and non-emergency calls.

Salary: $36,300 per year
             $17.45 per hour


Education: Most police, fire, and ambulance dispatchers have a high school diploma. Many states require dispatchers to become certified.
