3) Make or participate in recordings in music studios.

4) Perform before live audiences.

5) Play from memory or by following scores.

6) Play musical instruments as soloists, or as members or guest artists of musical groups such as orchestras, ensembles, or bands.
Salary: Median annual earnings of salaried music directors and composers between the middle 50 percent earned between $23,660 and $60,350.

Education: There are no formal educational requirements to become a musician; by tradition, this is a career launched from what you know and needs of a group, or member of band.
